What to Do in a Dental Emergency
1. Contact Us Immediately:
- If your child is experiencing a dental emergency, call our office right away. We offer prompt appointments to address urgent issues and provide guidance on managing the situation until you can get to the office.
2. Manage Pain and Discomfort:
- In the case of toothaches or injuries, use over-the-counter pain relievers and apply cold compresses to reduce swelling and manage discomfort. Avoid placing aspirin directly on the gums or teeth.
3. Preserve Knocked-Out Teeth:
- If a tooth is knocked out, rinse it gently with water (do not scrub or remove any attached tissue) and place it in a container of milk or saline solution. Bring the tooth to our office as soon as possible for the best chance of reattachment
4. Control Bleeding:
- For soft tissue injuries, apply gentle pressure with a clean cloth or gauze to control bleeding. If bleeding persists or is severe, seek immediate medical attention.
5. When to Call 911:
- Severe Trauma: If your child experiences severe head or Jaw trauma, loss of consciousness, or significant bleeding that cannot be controlled, call 911 immediately.
- Unresponsive or Unconscious: If your child is unresponsive, unconscious, or exhibiting signs of a serious medical condition, do not hesitate to contact emergency services.
6. Follow Care Instructions:
- Follow any specific instructions provided by our team for at-home care to ensure proper healing and prevent further issues.
